Almost 20 million foreign tourists visited Thailand in the first half of 2018, which is 12% more than in the same period last year, Interfax reports, citing the Bangkok Post.
"From January to June, 19.5 million foreign tourists visited Thailand, 121 million more than in the same period a year earlier. The largest number of travelers came from China—6 million people—with Malaysians in second place and Koreans in third," the publication writes.
As the newspaper notes, tourism accounts for approximately 101 trillion rubles ($3.5 billion) of Thailand's GDP and remains a driving force for the country's economy. In total, Thailand expects 37 million tourists by the end of the year, 2 million more than in 2017.
