This September, the first luxury One&Only resort, called One&Only, will open in the African Republic of Rwanda on the edge of the Nyungwe National Park. Nyungwe House, the company's press service reports.
The new resort is already the second completed project in the line eco-resorts One&Only Nature Resorts. The distinctive feature of the company's resorts is a close connection with the nature, culture and traditions of the region or country where they are located. The architecture and design of these rather intimate resorts fit into the natural landscape as organically as possible, and guests will be given the opportunity to actively interact with nature and local residents with the help of specially designed routes and programs.
The gastronomic concept of the new resorts is based on the best seasonal, local and, where possible, organic products from small private farmers and winemakers. The main emphasis in the development of the room stock is on privacy and seclusion, as well as the unique beauty of the surrounding landscapes.
A new eco-resort built on the territory of the Gisakura tea plantation. Nyungwe forest with its diverse fauna is considered one of the oldest forests in Africa: it is home to 13 species of primates, which is 20% of all African monkeys, and 75 species of mammals. The luxurious rooms and terraces offer amazing views of the green plantations and rising mountain peaks. The rooms themselves are made in a modern style with elements of traditional African motifs, all rooms and villas have fireplaces.
Guests can explore the National Park and walk along specially designed trails to see chimpanzees, black and white royal colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, as well as the Kamiranzowu swamps and stunning waterfalls. Bird watching is also offered, of which there are more than 275 species, including giant hornbills, great blue bats and red-breasted sparrowhawks. For those who prefer a more active program, there are sports with stunning views of the tea plantation, hiking and cycling in the hills. And for those who prefer sightseeing and getting to know the local culture, there are routes that will immerse guests in the atmosphere of authentic Africa.
In 2018, another eco-resort will open in Rwanda - One&Only Gorilla's Nest, which will be located near the village of Kingi, at the foot of the Virunga volcanic ridge, surrounded by eucalyptus forest. Guests will have a unique adventure here - meeting mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. In addition, here you can see the golden snub-nosed monkey and visit the Dian Fossey camp in Karisoke.
The resort will also feature a luxurious spa and fitness centre, One&Only Spa and Fitness Centre, equipped with all the latest technology; the treatments on the spa menu will combine traditional African elements with the latest modern techniques.
