Jellyfish will soon appear on the menus of Italian seafood restaurants. Visitors will be able to try pan-fried or marinated jellyfish. Previously, jellyfish dishes were available to tourists mainly in Asian countries.
Jellyfish are rich in mineral salts, proteins and collagen, and are low in calories.
As Italy in Russian reports, the Italian Center for Fisheries Research (CIRSPE) is currently developing a document that will collect information on the types of jellyfish that can be prepared and consumed without risk to health.
It is believed that the jellyfish they will eat are Rhizostoma pulmo, a species abundant in the Adriatic Sea. They reach 60 centimeters in diameter and weigh up to 10 kilograms.
