The All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) found out where Russians spent their summer, how much they spent on their trips, and whether they were satisfied with their vacations.

The most preferred types of recreation among Russians are vacations at the dacha (35%), as well as hiking and fishing and hunting (34%). Vacationing at the dacha is primarily chosen by older adults (45% among those aged 60+), while hiking, fishing, and hunting are preferred by those aged 25-34 (46%). Furthermore, the most popular types of recreation include excursions and trips to historical sites, as well as relaxing at home (31%).
A quarter of Russians (26%) spent their summer vacation at their dachas. (50% among those who prefer dacha vacations). One in ten respondents (10%) visited some corner of Russia. Among beach vacation lovers, this proportion reaches 13%. The level of satisfaction with vacation is significantly higher among those who were able to go on a trip than among those who stayed at home or went to their dacha: 85% versus 53%, respectively. The highest satisfaction levels were recorded among vacationers in Crimea (93%), at resorts in Krasnodar Krai, and in Russian cities (89% each).
If last year the latter were dissatisfied due to lack of money, then this year among The main reasons for dissatisfaction with a vacation are the lack of opportunity to go to the place you dreamed of (39%). Those who traveled outside their home region noted the inability to visit where they would like to (37%), high prices at the vacation spot and weather conditions (29%).
Over the past 5 years, 46% Russians have vacationed in another region of Russia. Among the most popular places in Russia, our fellow citizens name the Krasnodar Territory (30%), Crimea (9%), Moscow (5%), St. Petersburg (4%) and the Republic of Tatarstan (3%). Every second survey participant (51%) believes that conditions for recreation and leisure in Russia have improved over the past five years. Positive changes are more often noticed by those who vacationed in various cities of Russia (69%) and those who spent their vacation at resorts in the Krasnodar Territory (64%).
