Domestic Russian tourist flow increased by 3%

According to preliminary estimates, domestic Russian tourist flow in 2017 increased by 3% and exceeded 56.5 million trips, which is 34% more than the 2014 figure and 75% more than the 2013 figure. This was announced by the head of Rostourism, Oleg Safonov, during the All-Russian conference on current issues. issues of tourism development, held within the framework of the XIII International Tourism Exhibition "Intourmarket".

According to him, the number of tourist trips within the country has increased by 1,251 TP3T compared to 2000. The number of tourist trips to Russia by foreign citizens has also increased in recent years: by 1,231 TP3T compared to 2001.

Oleg Safonov also noted that one of the key components of Russian tourism's competitiveness is the development of its infrastructure. The federal target program "Development of Domestic and Inbound Tourism in the Russian Federation (2011–2018)" is instrumental in achieving this goal. It includes the construction of 45 tourism, recreational, and auto tourism clusters in 35 regions.

The head of Rostourism spoke about the preparation of a new federal target program for the period 2019–2025.

"The goal of this Program is to create conditions for the effective development of tourism, increasing the industry's contribution to the Russian Federation's GDP by 701% by 2025. While tourism's share of GDP currently stands at 3.49%, it should reach 5.93% by the end of the planning period. This is only possible if domestic and inbound tourism services grow at a rate that is twice as fast as the Russian Federation's economic growth rate," noted Oleg Safonov.

Speaking about promoting Russian tourism products on the global market, Oleg Safonov reported that in 2018 alone, Rostourism plans to open 46 national tourism offices in 23 countries. This, he stated, will contribute to achieving the target of increasing the volume of non-resource exports—services—to $100 billion within six years.
