
In connection with the Eid al-Adha holiday on September 1, several streets in Moscow will be closed and metro service will be limited, RIA Novosti reports.
As it became known, the Prospekt Mira station of the Moscow Metro Circle Line will be closed on Friday, September 1, from 05:30 to 11:00 The metro will be closed only for passengers exiting the station. For entry to the metro, it is recommended to use the Prospekt Mira station on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line, as well as the Sukharevskaya, Dostoyevskaya, and Komsomolskaya stations. In addition, the Minskaya metro station will be closed to entry from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM. These changes are related to the main Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. The capital's largest mosques, the Cathedral and Memorial mosques, are located near these stations.
Traffic will also be restricted on several streets near mosques on this day. Traffic will be prohibited on Durov, Meshchanskaya, Shchepkina (from Samarskaya Street to the Garden Ring), Gilyarovsky (from Kapelsky Lane to the Garden Ring), Kapelsky Lane (from Mira Avenue to Gilyarovsky Street), and Vypolzov Lane near building 7. All of these streets are located near the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.
Near the Historical Mosque, Bolshaya Tatarskaya, Staraya Tolmachevskaya, and Malaya Tatarskaya Streets, as well as Klimentovsky and Ozerkovsky Lanes, will also be closed to traffic. Yuzhnobutovskaya Street (from Ostafyevskaya Street to Buninskaya Alley), Minskaya Street (from Mosfilmovskaya Street to Kutuzovsky Prospekt), and Andropova Prospekt opposite Building 11, Block 2 will also be partially closed.
Traffic will be difficult from 4:00 to 11:00 near the Yardyam and Inam mosques on Khachaturyan Street (the section from Altufevskoe Highway to Otradnaya Street).
Interestingly, due to the celebration of Eid al-Adha, a number of Moscow and regional schools have postponed their assemblies dedicated to Knowledge Day from September 1 to September 4.
