The first ice rinks have opened in Moscow. Skating is now available in the Hermitage Garden, Sokolniki Park, and Tagansky Park, according to the Moscow Mayor's official website.
Several artificial ice rinks are available to Muscovites and visitors to the city. You can currently skate at the "Lyod" skating rink in Sokolniki Park, which is located on Festivalnaya Square and covers over 5,000 square meters. Hours are from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM, and admission costs 300–400 rubles, depending on the day of your visit. There are two skate rental shops within the park.
Another skating rink is open in the Hermitage Garden, near the main entrance. It's open on weekends from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on weekdays from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission is 250-350 rubles. You can skate for free at the skating rink in Tagansky Park. However, you must bring your own skates. Another free skating rink with artificial ice will open on November 15th in the Northern River Terminal Park. In the coming days, the skating rinks in Izmailovsky and Babushkinsky Parks will also be open for skating.
It was previously announced that the winter ice skating season at Gorky Park will begin on November 22. To celebrate, a party will be held on the rink with a musical performance. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 PM and will last until approximately midnight. At VDNKh, the winter season will begin on November 30.
In total, approximately 1,500 skating rinks with both artificial and natural ice surfaces are planned to open in Moscow. These include the rink on Red Square, the GUM rink, rinks on Chistye and Patriarch's Ponds, Luzhniki Stadium, Kuzminki Park, and many others. The start of the season for natural ice rinks will largely depend on weather conditions. According to forecasts, all rinks are expected to open by mid-December.
