German citizens are actively planning vacations in Turkey and Egypt. The number of booked tours to Antalya in March 2018 increased by 861, while those to Hurghada increased by 441, according to the FVW portal.
According to the results of March 2018, the demand for tours to Turkey and Egypt. Meanwhile, interest in Spain and Greece is waning. For example, the number of package tours booked to Antalya, Turkey, increased by 861,000. By comparison, in February, growth in Turkey was only 131,000. In the first month of spring, Antalya dominated sales, accounting for almost a third of all sales.
Egypt also saw double-digit growth. This applies to both Hurghada and the country's other resort, Marsa Alam. Sales increased by 44% and 461%, respectively.
Spanish holiday destinations, on the other hand, are once again underperforming on the German market. Interest in Mallorca is declining significantly this year, possibly due to rising prices. Bookings for the destination fell by 171% in March, following a 221% decline in February and a 151% decline in January.
The Canary Islands also suffered significant sales losses in Germany last month. Fuerteventura and Las Palmas saw declines in demand for 11% and 15%, respectively, while Tenerife saw a decline in demand for 3%.
The same applies to Greece. Demand for Crete weakened by 81%, Rhodes by 41%, and Kos by 111%.
As the German publication notes, all figures cited were obtained from the travel resource Traveltainment and the OTA booking system.
