Paris train station offers new service for Charles de Gaulle airport passengers

Air France passengers are being offered to check in their luggage in advance at the Gare du Nord railway station in Paris, Le Quotidien du Tourisme reports.

The French carrier has opened a baggage drop-off point at Paris' Gare du Nord station. Over the next three months Travellers departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport will be able to send their luggage ahead of them, for an additional fee, just before boarding the train. The service is available not only to Air France customers, but also to passengers of Joon and HOP. The baggage drop-off desk at the railway station is located next to track 3, opposite the SNCF office. Baggage can be dropped off at the station no earlier than 30 hours and no later than 8 hours before departure, from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00.

The cost of the service is 15€ per suitcase or bag and 10€ for each additional baggage. After completing the procedure at the airline counter, the baggage is sent to the airport. Passengers of all service classes, including economy class, and to all destinations except the USA and Israel can check in their bags before arriving at the airport.

With the new offer, airline customers can go straight to the airport boarding area and fly out without going through the baggage check-in process. It is also reported that one family member can check in bags at the station for everyone else. To do this, he or she must provide the documents of the family members.

The new service is part of SNCF's City Bosster strategy, which includes opening similar luggage drop-off counters and improving connections between trains and other modes of transport. The company's initiative frees travellers wishing to travel to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport by public transport from heavy bags and makes them more mobile.
