US begins issuing visas in Russian cities

US consulates plan to resume issuing visas to Russian citizens in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok from December 11, the press service of the American Embassy in Russia reported.

From Monday, December 11, applicants will be interviewed for non-immigrant visas will be available at US consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok. At the same time, Moscow will continue to accept citizens who have requested any other types of visas from the US authorities. It is noted that services are provided on a limited basis due to staff reductions.

Let us recall that the procedure for issuing American visas was suspended on August 23, 2017, after a significant reduction in the staff of all diplomatic missions of the United States in Russia. Appointments for interviews resumed only on September 1, and citizens were received only at the Moscow diplomatic mission. This led to huge queues and forced some citizens to travel to neighboring countries to obtain visas.
