Prices for air tickets from Russia for ten months of 2017 decreased by 11%

"Aviasales experts analyzed the average cost of flights for the first ten months of 2017 and concluded that, compared to the same period last year, traveler spending decreased by 11%, despite growing demand," said J. Dzenis.

According to tourism data The most noticeable savings were on flights to China (291,000 rubles), the European Union (7,000–15,000 rubles), and the CIS (up to 131,000 rubles). The only top-selling destination to increase in price was the United States, where passenger spending increased from 42,000 to 48,000 rubles.

Meanwhile, the number of tickets sold through Aviasales partners increased on all routes except Crimea. Experts recorded the highest growth on flights from Russia to Turkey (+78% since the diplomatic thaw).

Analysts believe that the concept of baggage-free and non-refundable tickets, which has been in effect since September of this year, plays a significant role in reducing the average ticket price. Aviasales previously introduced a baggage filter, allowing users to search for "light" fares with carry-on baggage only. This option allows travelers to save up to 15%.

Another factor influencing prices is the development of the low-cost segment, specifically the expansion of the low-cost carrier Pobeda's flight network. The airline leads on flights to Vladikavkaz, Rostov, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Nalchik, Nazran, Surgut, as well as to Barcelona (Girona) and Milan (Bergamo). Aviasales noted that by flying with a low-cost carrier, you can save an average of up to 20% compared to competitors.
