
Russian Railways has named the international destinations to which Russians traveled most frequently by train in 2017, according to the RZD-Partner news agency.
According to Oleg Belozerov, CEO of Russian Railways, the most popular foreign The top destinations in 2017 were Berlin, Nice, Paris, and Helsinki. In total, you can travel from Russia by train to 13 countries, including China and North Korea. However, the most popular trains are to European countries—Germany, Finland, and France.
It's worth noting that traveling internationally by train isn't cheap. A one-way trip to Berlin on the Strizh starts at 10,579 rubles. The train departs from Belorussky Station and takes almost 24 hours—21 hours and 28 minutes, to be exact.
A trip to the French Riviera will cost almost twice as much. A train ticket from Moscow to Nice costs 21,669 rubles. The journey takes over two days.
A train ride to Paris costs even more—almost 22,000 rubles—and the journey takes 39 hours.
Interestingly, a flight to the same destinations often costs half as much as a train ride.
