On July 2, the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History will open in Tel Aviv. The $40 million museum project took several years to complete and resulted in a state-of-the-art building housing Israel's national treasures.

The museum will feature over 5.5 million specimens from the Tel Aviv University collection, collected in different parts of the world. Visitors will also be able to see documents about the thousand-year history of the flora and fauna of Israel and the Middle East, as well as the cultural development of man in these territories, RIA Novosti reports.

The five-story museum building is located near the Tel Aviv University campus and houses nine exhibition spaces and 12 research laboratories.
