During the 2017-2018 winter season, the number of tourist trips among the Chinese population reached 197 million. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China at the opening of the 22nd winter tourism festival in his report.

According to Xinhua News Agency, winter tourism in China has entered a so-called "golden era," with significant overall growth in tourist arrivals. According to the report, during the 2021-2022 winter season, tourist arrivals will increase to 340 million, and tourism revenues will double to 680 billion yuan.

Moreover, investment growth in the tourism industry during the 2017/18 winter season, according to incomplete data, amounted to 540 billion yuan.

However, when it comes to China's domestic market, experts say Chinese tourists face a number of challenges when traveling within their own country, including underdeveloped infrastructure and poor service. Against this backdrop, Chinese tourists are increasingly choosing outbound destinations, including Russia, as their vacation destination.
