Mexico Changes Entry Rules for Russian Cruise Ship Tourists

Irina Tyurina, press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI), reported that Mexico has changed its entry rules for transit passengers of cruise ships. Now tourists from Russia will not be able to disembark a cruise liner without a visa.

"Now to everyone who "If you are going on a sea voyage to the Caribbean from Havana, you must have a standard visa in your passport, which you can get in advance at the Mexican consulate. An electronic visa for going ashore at a Mexican port is not valid," Irina Tyurina noted.

According to her, due to the innovations that will affect passengers of cruise ships, tourists who have not obtained a visa in advance will not be able to disembark; they will have to remain on board during the ship’s call at a Mexican port, Interfax reports.

She also notes that tourists who have an American or Schengen visa can visit Mexico without any obstacles.

"Nothing will change for cruise passengers departing from Miami, since they already have American visas. The inconvenience will affect Russians departing to Mexico from visa-free Cuba," she emphasized.

By the way, some tour operators believe that the new rule will not affect the Russian tourism market in any way, while others, on the contrary, believe that the innovations will especially affect the sale of MSC Cruises cruises from Havana.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that visas for Russian tourists to Mexico would be cancelled.
