The Leaning Tower of Pisa continues to straighten

The tilt of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, one of Italy's most beloved tourist symbols, has decreased by 4 centimeters over the past twenty years, according to experts monitoring the movement of the monument's foundation.

At the end of the last century, the Leaning Tower in Piazza dei Miracoli in central Pisa was predicted to collapse soon, despite several conservation projects. For a long time, the tower was closed to the public, while a team of engineers worked to save its foundations, drying them out and strengthening them.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is stable and in better condition than experts predicted, reports Italia po Russki. Experts believe that after conservation work is completed, the tower will stand for several more centuries.

Currently, you can visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa with tickets and only at the times specified on them. The number of daily visitors is limited, so it is recommended to purchase tickets online in advance.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. The tower stands 55.86 meters tall and weighs 14,500 tons.
