Tourists are fingerprinted upon entry into China.

China is implementing a new national security plan aimed at combating illegal visitors. For over a year, foreigners have been fingerprinting at a number of border crossings upon entering China, and at the end of April 2018, this procedure became mandatory at all checkpoints, including those located at the airports of Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Fingerprints are taken from all foreigners aged 14 to 70 years, with the exception of holders of diplomatic passports and humanitarian visas.

Aeroflot, which operates from Terminal 2 at Beijing Capital International Airport, reports that two dozen automated kiosks have been installed before passport control. Immigration officers assist tourists with the process. After fingerprinting all their fingers, foreign passengers receive a receipt, which they must present at passport control.

The information is entered into the Chinese Immigration Service database, after which re-fingerprinting will not be required. However, if the foreigner refuses to have their fingerprints taken, they will be denied entry to China.
