On March 1, 2018, a meeting was held between the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Alexander Neradko, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation, Ihab Nasr, on the issue of resuming air traffic between Russia and Egypt, which was suspended in 2015, the department's press service reported.
"During the meeting, issues related to the practical implementation of Russian-Egyptian agreements, as set out in the intergovernmental protocol on cooperation in civil aviation security, were discussed. This will allow Aeroflot and Egypt Air to begin operating regular flights between Moscow and Cairo after certain formalities are completed," Rosaviatsia noted.
The parties outlined specific steps toward the speedy resumption of air traffic between the countries, which will contribute to the development of economic and cultural ties between Russia and Egypt, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
It was previously reported that air traffic between the countries could resume by the end of April.
