Thailand to Change Its Tourism Security System

Thailand is planning a radical overhaul of all security measures in the country related to the tourism industry., reports Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Over 150 participants from across the country attended the forum at the Athenee Hotel Bangkok to analyze key issues and brainstorm storming ways to improve security in the kingdom.

The forum, titled "Traveling Thailand: Safety Everywhere," was held last week under the chairmanship of Tourism and Sports Minister Mr. Weerasak Kausurat.

All measures and recommended actions developed at the forum will be divided into three sections: preparedness measures, crisis management measures, and post-crisis measures. They will be submitted to the National Tourism Policy Council and the Cabinet of Ministers for approval and implementation.

As a reminder, this week in Thailand, another accident occurred involving a tourist boat carrying 20 tourists. It burned while moored near Lawa Island in the Phuket area. One person suffered burns and was taken to the hospital.

This is far from the first accident involving tourist boats in Thailand recently. The issue is already being addressed at the government level, including by the country's military.
