Hungary to Simplify Visa Process for Sziget Festival Guests

The Hungarian Embassy in Russia is launching a simplified procedure for obtaining a Schengen visa for Russian guests of the Sziget festival, which will be held from August 8 to 15 in Budapest. Now urgent Schengen visas can be obtained not only in Moscow, but also in St. Petersburg and Kazan and Yekaterinburg.

Upon presentation of tickets to the Sziget festival, a visa for Russians will be issued urgently in 3 working days instead of the standard 5 days, while its price will not differ from the price of a regular visa. In addition, for holders of tickets with camping, when applying for a visa, no additional confirmation of residence in Hungary will be required.

All other conditions for obtaining a Schengen visa remain unchanged.

In Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan, a simplified visa application program can be used at the offices of PONY EXPRESS, the official service provider Hungarian Embassies in Russia.

In Yekaterinburg, preferential conditions for obtaining a visa can only be used by submitting an application at the consular section of the Consulate General. With the conditions for submitting an application for a visa can be found on the website.

For the third year in a row, Hungary has been providing visitors to Sziget with simplified visas under the agreement between Russia and the EU on visa facilitation for cultural purposes.

"Sziget is traditionally the most popular and favorite foreign festival among Russian travelers. Last year, more than 5,000 spectators came to the festival from Russia. This year, we are preparing to welcome even more of our guests to the festival. At the moment, according to preliminary ticket sales in Russia, we expect an increase of about 50%." - said the official representative of the Sziget festival in Russia, Boris Lazarev.

The growing interest of Russian music fans in the Hungarian festival is taking place against the backdrop of an increase in the number of Russian tourists in Hungary. According to the Border Service, more than 22,000 Russian tourists visited Hungary in the first quarter of 2018 alone, which is 77% more than a year earlier.
