Online travel agency OZON.travel analyzed the preferences of Russians who decided to spend Russia Day outside their home cities. According to the company's analysts, Russians have maintained a tendency to fly within the country. Thus, the share of air travel within Russian cities has increased by 7% compared to last year.
Among the cities, Simferopol is the leader — 16% travelers go there, followed by Sochi — 9% tourists go there, and Saint Petersburg is the third leader, where 7% of those traveling around the country will go. Interest in Krasnodar has grown by 50% — in the overall ranking of popular cities, it rose from 7th to fifth place, but a plane ticket has become 4% cheaper compared to last year. At the same time, the average cost of resort destinations in Russia (Simferopol, Sochi and Anapa) has increased by 6% compared to last year.
Demand for international travel remained at the same level compared to 2017. At the same time, the leader among international destinations is Georgia. Demand for this country increased by 38% with a decrease in the average ticket price by 9%.
Demand for Italy also increased by 14%, despite a 5% increase in the average ticket price. In 2017, it was ranked 6th in the ranking of popular destinations, and this year it rose to third.
Armenia rounds out the top three foreign destinations. Demand there has increased by 2% compared to last year.
