According to a report by the World Tourism Organization, Egypt showed the greatest increase in tourist flow last year, with 55.1% more foreign tourists arriving in the country than in 2016.
Despite the ban on organizing charter tourist flights from Russia, Egypt continues to gain popularity among tourists from all over the world. As the government reported earlier, in the first half of 2018, the tourist flow continues to increase by at least 40% compared to 2017 figures. Egyptians hope to attract more guests from Italy, Germany and Ukraine.
The number of tourists to the West African state of Togo has grown by 46.7%. The world travel guide Lonely Planet recommends this country to those who like to relax in the wilderness. At the same time, experts note that Togo is famous for its variety of landscapes from palm-fringed beaches on the coast of the Antarctic and hills covered with dense forest in the center to savannah in the north. The wild beauty of these places attracts those who prefer ecology and deserted beaches.
In third place is Vietnam with almost 30% growth. Last year, the country was visited by 12.9 million foreign tourists. Thus, the country's entire history record was broken, and a new record for growth and increase in volumes was set.
Georgia is in fourth place. It was visited by 27.9% more tourists than the year before. In figures, this figure is 7.5 million foreigners. In 2010, the authorities expect about 8 million. The largest number of guests come from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
Fifth in the ranking is Palestine. Its score was 25.7%. Among tourists, Palestine is considered a beautiful country with delicious food, holy places, unique crafts, authentic culture and affordable prices. Most tourists come to the country via Israel.
Also included in the ranking of destinations with growing popularity were: the island of Niue in the South Pacific, Nepal, Israel, the Northern Mariana Islands, Iceland and Türkiye.
