Israel may impose restrictions on tourist sites if coronavirus spreads across the country.
Health Ministry officials believe it is only a matter of time before the coronavirus reaches Israel, The Times of Israel reports. and they have already developed a plan aimed at treating patients and preventing the spread of infection.
At the initial stage of a possible coronavirus outbreak, special units will be created in hospitals to isolate carriers of the disease.
"According to the report, an isolation ward will be immediately set up at Shmuel Harofeh Hospital in Be'er Yaakov, as well as one in a ward at Rishon Lezion Hospital. However, if the number of cases increases, a hospital in Jerusalem and one in Tel Aviv may be opened exclusively for treating coronavirus patients," the statement said.
In addition, the Ministry of Health will consider closing hotels and tourist facilities.
"Israel is currently under the strictest entry restrictions after the Health Ministry said Israelis returning from four destinations in East Asia will now be required to self-quarantine for two weeks amid concerns about the spread of the virus. Travelers who have been to Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau must remain in isolation, ministry officials said. Previously, only travelers arriving from China were subject to such quarantine," the portal writes.
