Israel reports on demand dynamics

Amid growing interest in Israel as a tourist destination, the Ministry of Tourism is actively supporting tour operators and airlines to stimulate the flow of Russian tourists to the country.

One of the results of this fruitful work was that in January 2020 Ramon Airport received 3,817 travelers under the Ministry's support program, 1,21% more than the previous year, when 1,732 tourists arrived in the country.

In total, 129 flights from Russia were operated between September 8, 2019 and February 8, 2020, as part of the Israel Tourism Ministry’s program to subsidize flights to Eilat. In total, 20,173 guests from the Russian Federation arrived at Ramon Airport, which is 72% more than last year.

One of the reasons for the increase in demand for the Eilat route was the launch of budget flights on Russian low-cost airlines.

It is worth noting that the overall inbound tourist flow from Russia to Israel also demonstrates positive dynamics. In January 2020, 22,000 Russian tourists arrived in Israel. The increase in tourist flow amounted to 11% compared to January of the previous year.

Vladimir Shklyar, Director of the Department of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel in the Russian Federation and the CIS, Advisor to the Embassy of the State of Israel: "I am very pleased that the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel to increase the tourist flow are bringing such impressive results. We will continue to work to ensure that as many Russians as possible come to rest in our wonderful country. I am confident that if the current trend continues, the number of Russian tourists in Israel by the end of 2020 will exceed 400 thousand people."
