Tel Aviv has a new tourist route.

Today, April 18, the Independence Trail opens in Tel Aviv—a new free tourist route dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel. This is a joint project of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and the Israeli Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage.

The one-kilometer interactive route passes through ten national heritage sites, according to the Israel Ministry of Tourism press service. It begins at Tel Aviv's First Kiosk, at the intersection of Rothschild Boulevard and Herzl Street, and passes the fountain with the Nahum Gutman mosaic, the Akiva Aryeh Weiss House, the Shalom Meir Tower, the Great Synagogue, the Haganah Museum, the Bank of Israel Visitor Center, the Tel Aviv Founders' Monument, the Meir Dizengoff statue, and Independence Hall, where the historic ceremony in which David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, took place. It is also here that the founding of Tel Aviv, the first independent Hebrew-speaking city, was proclaimed in 1909.

Using a dedicated mobile app, tourists can access information about each historical point along the route. Route maps are also available in eight languages, including Russian.
