Leading countries in terms of inbound tourist flow to Russia named

According to statistics from Amadeus, in the first half of 2019, the top five countries “suppliers” of tourists to Russia included China, Germany, South Korea, Israel and Italy.

Amadeus analysts studied the dynamics of inbound travel to Russia in the first half of the year 2019. As the company told the TRN portal, a particular increase in interest in Russia is observed among foreign tourists from China (+24.5%), South Korea (+26%), Israel (+6.2%) and Italy (+5%). "Big data arrays allow us to analyze tourist flow statistics and identify factors influencing the growth in the number of tourists, seasonality of demand, etc. Thus, a visa-free regime has been in effect for tourists from South Korea and Israel for several years now. Tourists visiting the border regions of the Far East can apply for an electronic visa. A visa-free regime has been in effect between China and Russia for over ten years
for organized groups. The gradual growth of tourist flow from Italy is connected, among other things, with the opening of additional flights by Russian air carriers,” comments Leonid Marmer, General Director of the Russian office of Amadeus.

At the same time, according to Amadeus, compared to last year, there is a decrease in tourist flow from Germany (-4.3%), the Czech Republic (-4.6%) and France (-8.2%). "In this case, the statistics are explained by the increased demand for trips to Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. If we compare the figures for these countries with the 2017 statistics, we will see a steady increase in tourist flow. The World Cup has noticeably influenced interest in Russia, and now it is important to keep up with global tourism trends in order to maintain this interest," adds Leonid Marmer.

It should be added that the issue of increasing the incoming tourist flow will be addressed within the framework of the International Forum and Exhibition "OTDYKH" in Moscow. More than 800 participants and 15 thousand visitors from more than 50 countries and 40 regions of Russia will be able to share professional achievements, exchange new expert knowledge and experience with other exhibitors, expand the range of current offers for their clients and conclude profitable contracts. The partner country this year is Cuba, and the partner region is Komi. The exhibition will feature special expositions. Medical Tourism, Spa & Health, which will feature private and public clinics, rehabilitation and diagnostic centers, SPA hotels, Russian and foreign resorts and sanatoriums. The latest IT developments and startups will present their innovative proposals at the Travel Technology & Startups platform. The museum gallery will unite and demonstrate the potential of cultural sites from different parts of Russia.

The business program will include a block of events entitled "A Current View of the Tourism Industry. Online vs. Offline", as well as discussions on gastronomic tourism, territorial marketing, IT solutions in tourism, medical and health tourism. Industry experts will discuss how small Russian cities can define a niche and attract tourists. Event tourism and the volunteer movement will also be a topic of discussion. Experts will discuss the impact of iconic events — the Sochi Olympics (2014) and the 2018 World Cup — on domestic and inbound tourism, volunteer contributions, and opportunities for tourist destinations.

"Tourism today is one of the most dynamically developing industries," says Olga Moiseeva, Director of Exhibition Organization at Euroexpo. "If we talk about inbound tourism, then, in addition to the increase in the flow of guests from Asian countries, there is another event that emphasizes the growing interest in our country: for the first time in history, the 23rd meeting of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization will also be held in September in Russia, in St. Petersburg."

"When the market is in an active stage of change, it is more important than ever to come together to share professional achievements, expertise and technologies. This is the only way to find smart solutions that allow you to continuously improve business efficiency," adds Olga Moiseeva.
